The Sp2/0-Ag14 cell line is derived from the fusion of spleen cells from BALB/c mice immunized with sheep red blood cells and P3X63Ag8 myeloma cells. Sp2/0-Ag14 cells do not secrete immunoglobulins, are resistant to 20 μg/ml of 8-azaguanine, and are relatively sensitive to HAT; they can be used as the B-cell component in cell fusion for hybridoma production. The cells are negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox virus).
