The Neuro-2a [N2a; Neuro-2a] cell line was established by R. J. Klebe and F. H. Ruddle from a spontaneous tumor in strain A mice. Neuro-2a [N2a; Neuro-2a] cells produce large amounts of tubulin, a protein that functions as a contractile system in response to axoplasmic flow in neuronal cells.
