MFC cells were established by Qian Shusen and Gao Jin in 1985. They were cultured using small tissue blocks from FC tumor tissue derived from a transplanted forestomach squamous carcinoma in 615 mice and have been passaged for 132 generations. MFC cells achieve a 100% success rate when transplanted subcutaneously in 615 mice.
