This cell line was derived from a BW7756 hepatoma induced in C57/L mice; it expresses AFP (alpha-fetoprotein), α1-antitrypsin, and amylase; and is negative for ectromelia virus. This cell can proliferate in serum-free medium with the following composition: 75% DMEM, 25% Waymouth’s MAB87/3 medium, supplemented with 3×10⁻⁸ M selenium.
