This cell line is a sub-strain of the mouse myoblast cell line established by Yaffe D. and Saxel O. It differentiates rapidly, forming contractile myotubes and producing specific muscle proteins. Under the influence of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP-2), this cell can differentiate from myoblasts into osteoblasts. Testing confirmed that the cells are negative for mousepox virus.
