The A9 cell line was isolated from the wild-type parental cell strain L. A9 cells are sensitive to HAT selection medium and lack both adenosine phosphoribosyltransferase (APRT) and hypoxanthine phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT). They exhibit resistance to 8-azaguanine (0.003 mg/ml) and 6-thioguanine (0.1 mM).
