This cell line was isolated from the lung adenocarcinoma tissue (poorly differentiated, Grade III) of a 60-year-old Caucasian female patient. It has been reported to form tumors in immunodeficient mice, with most karyotypes being hypotetraploid, and is used in lung cancer research.
