Established from the peripheral blood of a 20-year-old male with acute myeloid leukemia (AML, FAB M5a), who had relapsed in 1995 following an initial diagnosis of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS, refractory anemia with excess blasts, RAEB). This cell line carries an internal tandem duplication (ITD) in the FLT3 gene; however, FLT3 protein is not expressed. It also harbors a CBL deltaExon8 mutant variant. MOLM-14 (ACC 777) is its sister cell line.
