The growth characteristics of KHOS-240S are similar to those of HOS (ATCC CRL-1543). This cell line is a revertant mutant of ATCC CRL-1544 and no longer contains a rescuable Kirsten murine sarcoma virus genome. The cells are non-tumorigenic in immunosuppressed mice but can form colonies in semi-solid medium.
