This cell line was established in 1958 by E.Y. Lasfargues and L. Ozzello, derived from the breast cancer tissue of a 74-year-old Caucasian female. The cells express WNT3 and WNT78. TNF-alpha inhibits the growth of these cells. The cells are estrogen receptor-negative but express estrogen mRNA with a 5' exon deletion.
