SUM149PT was isolated from invasive ductal carcinoma of an ER-negative, PR-negative, and Her2-positive (non-activated) inflammatory breast cancer patient. This cell line is immortalized and expresses luminal cytokeratins 8, 18, and 19, consistent with its origin from luminal breast epithelial cells. It has been reported that SUM149PT can form tumors in nude mice.
