The NCI-H520 cell line was established in 1982 by Gazdar AF et al., and is derived from squamous cell lung carcinoma tissue. The expression level of p53 mRNA in NCI-H520 cells is lower than that in normal lung tissue, but there are no major structural abnormalities in DNA. NCI-H520 cells are positive for keratin and vimentin, but negative for neurofilament triplet proteins. NCI-H520 cells can form colonies in soft agar.
