This cell line is one of the many human tumor cell lines isolated and characterized by Fogh J and Trempe G. The cells were derived from the osteosarcoma tissue of an 11-year-old Caucasian female. The patient had undergone radiotherapy as well as treatment with various drugs, including methotrexate, doxorubicin, vincristine, cyclophosphamide, and aramycin-C. The cells are non-tumorigenic in immunosuppressed mice and express epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptors, as well as transforming growth factor β (type 1 and type 2) receptors.
