This human pancreatic cancer cell line is derived from pancreatic ductal cells, with a doubling time of 52 hours. Chromosome analysis shows that the modal chromosome number of this cell line is 63, including three uniquely markered chromosomes and one small ring chromosome. The growth of this cell can be inhibited by 1 unit/ml of L-asparaginase; it is capable of growing in soft agar and forming tumors in nude mice.
