This cell line was derived from the lymph node of a 43-year-old Caucasian male with large cell lung carcinoma. There is no submicroscopic or biochemical evidence of mucin production or squamous differentiation. The cell line expresses p53 mRNA at readily detectable levels, significantly higher than those found in normal lung cells. At the same time, there are no overall structural DNA aberrations that could indicate the presence of point mutations or very small variations. It stains positively for keratin and vimentin fibers, but negatively for neurofilament triplet proteins.
