The MOLT-4 cell line was established from the cells of a relapsed patient who had received combination chemotherapy with multiple drugs. This patient carried a G→A mutation at codon 248 of the p53 gene, and p53 was not expressed. MOLT-4 cells do not produce immunoglobulins or Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Both MOLT-4 and MOLT-3 cell lines were derived from the same patient.
