This cell is a clone of the Jurkat-FHCRC cell line (a derivative of the Jurkat cell line). The Jurkat cell line was derived from the peripheral blood of a 14-year-old boy; it can produce large amounts of IL-2 upon induction with either phorbol ester and a lectin or an anti-T3 monoclonal antibody (the production of IL-2 requires both types of inducers); it expresses the T-cell receptor and CD3.
