This cell line is a subclone of HEC-1-A isolated by H. Kuramoto in 1968. Unlike HEC-1-A, this subclone exhibits stable growth cycles between days 135 and 190 of cultivation, displaying a flattened morphology and a more pronounced cobblestone-like pattern compared to the parental cell line. Additionally, its main chromosome set is twice that of the parental cells.
