The Daudi cell line was established in May 1967 by E. Klein and G. Klein from a 16-year-old Black male patient with Burkitt's lymphoma. The Daudi cells are surface immunoglobulin positive (sIg+), β2-microglobulin negative, Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen (EBNA) positive, and express the viral capsid antigen VCA; they carry the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Daudi cells are typical B lymphoblasts and are widely used in research on the pathogenesis of leukemia.
