CFPAC-1 is a pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cell line derived from the liver metastasis of a 26-year-old Caucasian male with cystic fibrosis (CF). These cells express the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) and exhibit an epithelial-like morphology with polarized apical microvilli. They also express pancreatic duct cell markers, including cytokeratins and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA).CFPAC-1 is a subtriploid cell line, with 36% of cells having a modal chromosome number of 75. When passaged to the 24th generation, it can form tumors in immunosuppressed mice.
